I’m Emma, I’m a PhD candidate in Environmental Health Sciences at the Columbia Mailman School of Public Health.

My PhD dissertation work focuses on assessing the benefit of wastewater surveillance data for forecasting COVID-19 hospitalizations in New York State. My research interests include infectious disease dynamics and modeling, wastewater surveillance, data science, global epidemiology, and climate and health.

Before starting my PhD, I worked in public health researching and programming - I’ve worked in school, hospital, non-profit, and clinical research settings in the US and internationally. I also received a BA from Wesleyan University in 2012 and an MSPH from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in 2019.

When I’m not working on my PhD research, you might find me sword dancing, morris dancing, contra dancing, or working on various craft projects.
